Who says fashion and technology can not mix? Sprint, for one.
Day of the carrier announced a new handset, LG thin and Superlight Marquee, put on track for release October 2. Gingerbread supported by Android 2.3, the smartphone features a 1GHz processor, a Nova 4-inch screen, 5-megapixel, and 2-megapixel front-facing camera. Known in other circles as Black Optimus, LG Marquee also offers users 512MB of RAM, 2GB ROM, and support needed for Wi-Fi, GPS, and Bluetooth.
For software, Marquee offers Swype for virtual QWERTY keyboard and a standard tariff of Sprint's applications and services. Like many other carriers Android handset, the device also supports Sprint's ID, which lets users customize the home screen with five niche applications, ringtones, wallpapers, widgets, and more.
In line with New York Fashion Week, the phone will be launched in partnership with DONE, non-profit design collective and will feature carrying cases designed by five designers up-and-coming. These cases will make their appearance tomorrow's catwalk during the launch of the LG.
Command of the LG Marquee presale starts September 20 and lasts for one week. Buyers who take advantage of the initial offerings will begin to receive their device on September 29, three days before it debuts in stores. Price is $ 99 with a qualifying two-year service agreement and after mail-in rebate $ 50.
