If you have been on Facebook for more than a year or two, you might remember it was possible to embed third-party applications in your profile. Initially it is possible to actually embed a widget application on your profile (remember when everyone has a picture of Graffiti?), But they were then relegated to a separate tab because they lead to a MySpace-like chaos. And finally, they were removed from the profile entirely.
Today during his keynote at f8, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has just announced that Facebook applications will be introduced back into the user profile as part of a new Timelines feature (which, as is the case, make your profile look a lot like Tumblr blogs).
Zucerkberg explained that people want to use the application to express themselves on their profiles - but that Facebook should look for ways to keep them from becoming heavy.
That's where the entrance Timeline application will now be able to make a post Timeline that looks like a writing made within Facebook itself (such as uploading photos). We only saw them briefly on the screen, but they seem to fit in quite well without a widget looks like a foreigner. We will update with old photos.
